Zalo Queen Set Vibrator Review

I’ve been a magpie all my life. As a little girl, abiding with my mom while she browsed Macy’s Misses Department was terribly boring until I came across a sequined blouse or a rhinestone-encrusted frock. “Oooh mom, it’s so sparkly” I’d coo almost involuntarily. At 31, not much has changed. My heart still beats for Swarovski crystal. So when I saw Zalo’s newest offering, The Queen Set, featured on SheVibe, I had to have it. The Queen’s elegant design is accented with a gold snake curving around its control buttons as though it were being charmed forth by its humming vibration. And as if Zalo had tapped into own deepest delights, the snake’s head is a glimmering clear teardrop-shaped genuine Swarovski crystal. Lovely. The Queen Set includes the Queen, a g-spot vibrator, as well a sleeve to convert it into a clitoral stimulator similar to the Womanizer or Satisfyer. The technology isn’t exactly the same the Womanizer’s patented “Pleasure Air” technology but in effect, it’s a close enough approximation.

Overview

As a g-spot vibrator, the queen utilizes two types of stimulation with dual motors. The first is its “PulseWave” motion design, meant to stimulate the g-spot directly. The head of the toy pulses up and down in waves- up to 75 times per second, according to Zalo. There are three intensity levels (speeds) for the PulseWave function. The Queen’s second method of stimulation is traditional vibration in the shaft of the toy. The Queen also has a heating function. Tap two buttons on the toy, wait a couple of minutes, and the Queen’s silky silicone wil be heated to body temperature.

To transform the Queen vibrator into a clit stimulator, Zalo has provided a silicone sleeve and a few packets of lube to ease the sleeve onto the vibrator. After you’ve slipped on the Queen’s sleeve, engage the PulseWave function for clit suction with, again, three levels of intensity.

In Use

The Queen Set has so much going for it: elegance, relative ingenuity, and versatility. I wanted to love it so very much. I dreamed that not only would it be one of the most beautiful toys in my collection, but it would also be one of the most useful. Sadly, it falls short. All charged up, the PulseWave technology felt powerful in my hand and that got me excited for what it might do for my g-spot. Would the Queen make me the squirter I always knew I could be? Nope. Internally, I hardly felt the pulsations. Even more concerning, the pulsation got bogged and slowed when I pushed it against my g-spot for more pressure.

The vibrations are located in the shaft and were fine but not as nearly powerful as the other Zalo vibrator I own, Marie. The vibrations don’t travel well into the head of the toy, so while you can run both the PulseWave and the vibration at the same time, I didn’t feel much of a difference in g-spot stimulation by using them both. The heat also doesn’t actually travel to the head. Its source is an inch or so lower down the shaft and doesn’t seem to radiate out much. So while the heat felt cozy in my vagina, it didn’t benefit my g-spot.

The Clit Suction Sleeve

The clitoral sleeve fits tightly over the head of the toy, necessitating lube for the application. Zalo includes five starter packets of lube. I tossed them and went with my tried and true Sliquid. While the top of the clitoral sleeve fits tightly, the rest of it drapes of the Queen like a cloak or a cape. A clit cape, if you will. The Queen, all gussied up in its emerald cape, reminded me way too much of this, which is not exactly a turn on. Unfortunately for the Queen Set, I have the Womanizer Pro40 (discontinued), Womanizer Premium and the Satisfyer Pro 2 to compare it to. That’s probably not fair; I know anyone who has experienced these knows how intense they can feel. And yet, the Queen set feels like a light flutter against the clit, even on the highest setting. While I usually orgasm in a minute or two with the Womanizer, I never got there at all with the Queen. Those who find the Womanizer too intense might enjoy the gentle sensation, though.

The App

Zalo’s Queen Set also has a companion app called Zalo Remote. That doesn’t mean it’s a great couples toy. Like, say, We-Vibe, Zalo uses near-field technology to connect to the app. Unlike We-Vibe though, the app controls only work for the person connected directly via Bluetooth. So while someone may be able to control it from another room, they can’t control it from another city. That means “Zalo Remote” isn’t so “remote” after all. It wasn’t useful for me and it feels like Zalo added app functionality for the sake of appearing more premium rather than being more useful. On their website, Zalo even calls one of the app features, Z Index, “your personal health butler.” Haha, what? Apparently, it counts calories burned during your masturbation sesh, a claim that’s obviously dubious without knowing the user’s metabolic profile. And we all know I didn’t come here for the exercise, Zalo.

Final Thoughts

While Queen Set’s styling is nothing short of regal, its underpowered motors are anything but. Zalo tells its users there’s no need to thrust the Queen vibrator, just lay back and enjoy. Yeah, no. Thrusting was how I got any thrills out of it at all. I also really liked applying a dollop of lube and leisurely rubbing my clit with the pulsating head (minus the clit sleeve) while I lost myself in some porn. That still didn’t get me to climax but it was delightful nonetheless. I’ve decided to use the queen for warm up as its sensations are perfectly pleasant- even if I have to call in reinforcements for an actual orgasm.

Those looking for a luxurious little tease or gentle stimulation might enjoy Zalo’s Queen Set but powerful vibrator lovers should look elsewhere.
